Number Bin

Objective: Uncover the numbers hidden by sifting through the rice using either their hands or sensory bin tools!

Basic Materials:

This bin consists of a number puzzle, sensory bin tools, and rainbow rice as a base. A link here on how I made it! Foam, magnet, or any other makeshift numbers work just as well!

Benefits:

It serves as a great introduction to numbers, and is meant to be just that! A way to familiarize your child with the shapes and names of numbers.

How I Interact:

I hide the numbers under the rice, give her a demonstration of digging in the rice with the tool and finding a number. I pick it up name it once or twice and put it back. Hand her the tool and let her go. Yumi used both her hands and the tool to uncover the numbers, and even fit a few of the numbers back into the puzzle. A skill she has not yet mastered or shown much interest in.
