Autumn Bin

Objective: Grab and scoop the leaves and beans into the bowl to fashion a sort of dry Fall soup!

Basic Materials:

This bin consists of some wooden toy apples (feel free to add anything Fall adjacent i.e. acorns or twigs), a bag of black beans, dried ears of corn, pine cones, small pumpkins, bowls, a scoop and tongs, and some fallen leaves.

How I interact:

I provided her a quick demonstration of scooping and pouring the beans, adding leaves and apples to the bowls. Naming the materials as she picks them up i.e. leaf, apple, pumpkin.

Benefits:

This bin serves as a great introduction to Fall! As the season changes it offers a good sensory and exploration experience. Yumi is able to investigate these items that pertain to all things she sees happening in the world around her, like the falling leaves and pine cones outside, and the pumpkins at the supermarket. She gets to interact with these materials and scoop, pour, transfer, and flick, and rip, all good for her fine motor development!
