Basic Materials:

This bin consists of a few sensory bin tools, edible sand made from cereal and crackers I tossed in the blender, a bag of split peas, and some twigs and a few rocks from outside. I also added an ice cream tub lid and filled it with a handful of blue water beads from a previous bin activity to function as a makeshift water hole, and of course some Safari animal friends!

Benefits:

An awesome bin for introducing Safari wild life to your little one! Allowing for exploration and discovery as they investigate the figurines. It supports language development in naming the animals, and the sounds they make. Great for fine motor with grabbing and squishing the water beads, and scooping the split peas and sand!

How I Interact:

Naming the animals repeatedly while she plays, and making their respective animal sounds as best I can. Pointing out similar anatomy the animals share along the way, minor intervention reminding her we keep the sand in the bin, and observing. In addition to the bins, music, books, and other visual aids can also be fun and beneficial for making connections in both a tangible form and linking it to images in books and/or on screen. For example, putting on Our Planet on Netflix so that she can see real life elephants to scale with zebras, giraffes, and other safari life is great for building that association.
