Arctic Animal Bin
Basic Materials:
For this bin you’ll need cold water, a bit of blue food coloring, recycled packaging foam inserts (cut edges jagged for iceberg look), confetti (optional), and arctic animal figurines! The ones I have here I found at our local craft store. Safari Ltd’s Toob kits work great for this bin also!
Benefits:
This one serves as a good introduction to Arctic life, exploring the animals that tradtionally live in colder parts of the world, where snow is year round. At 19 months it’s a bit too soon to be explaining melting ice caps, global warming, and endangered species, so for now we get to familiarize ourselves with their names and anatomy!
How I Interact:
I let her play freely with the materials, name the animals repeatedly for her, and point out the different body parts to whichever animal she’s holding at the time i.e. “paw”, “tail”, “fur.”
