Muddy Construction Trucks Bin

Objective: Free engagement and exploration with materials and “mud” made from pudding!

Basic Materials:

For this bin you’ll need toy trucks or cars, water, and some pudding! If you go the construction truck route, feel free to jazz it up a bit by adding some rocks and twigs from outside to serve as “logs” and “boulders” like we have done here. This CAT mini construction set I found at Walmart for about $7, but can also be found on Amazon.com. The road roll of tape I found on Amazon, and used for a small makeshift ramp.

Benefits:

This bin is taste safe (mud wise) and is great for messy play. It allows your child to get dirty and have fun, creating tracks in the mud, sloshing it around as they manuever the trucks around in it. The water is there should they be interested in rinsing them off. Really I just let her have at it on her own with this one as it is a great moment for child led, exploratory play. She mixed and splashed and rinsed, and tasted, and then some.

How I Interact:

I moved the trucks around in the bin a bit, and put some rocks in one, and then stood back. At the end when she showed she had lost interest by walking away I wrapped up the rest by cleaning and putitng toys away.
